I’ve been hitting garage sales whenever I see them, hoping to score a great vintage camera.  I haven’t had any luck finding cameras, but I did find this mint-condition 1960s typewriter earlier this summer.

I brought it outside for a few photos this week, and my kids were instantly drawn to this “strange typer device”.  Fascinated.  My how the world has changed…

  • product photography

This summer I ventured into product photography, beyond photographing my own products.  I had the pleasure of working with the lovely ladies Sandra and Jennifer of JenSan Candles.  Sandra was looking to update their shop with some fresh images and I was happy to help.

I photographed their new line of Essential Oil Soy candles as well as some yummy-smelling pillar candles.  To make the images pop, I shot them against a clean white background.

Are you a seller on Etsy looking to freshen up your shop with new images?  I’d love to work with you.  Email me for details.

  • new lights

I told my husband a while back that I’d like to string some Christmas lights over our deck in the backyard.  I envisioned buying a couple of strings of lights at Target and maybe stapling them up in a couple spots to secure them.  But that’s not his way.

He envisioned something far better, far more sturdy and able to withstand the elements.  First he built a heavy wood frame to rim the outside of our deck.  Then we strung heavy duty cable in a zig-zag pattern that had been carefully calculated.  Then hanging off the cable – the lights!  These are industrial hanging bulbs, the kind you see at outdoor restaurants.

The result is beautiful.  We’ve eaten outside most nights since the project was done.  I hope summer holds out a bit longer so we can continue to enjoy them.
